The most daunting factor in determining your cost of automobile ownership is insurance. It is a necessity that makes a huge difference in keeping you and your vehicle protected from harm. Nevada and California are typically ranked among the highest in insurance rates nationwideHowever, some vehicles yield lower insurance rates than the average, which can be affordable for your budget.

The MarketWatch Guides website listed the vehicle brands that yield the highest and lowest auto insurance costs. We’re pleased to say that they named Subaru among the companies with the lowest insurance rates.

The reason? Subaru offers the safest lineup of vehicles sold in this country. In fact, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has awarded both its Top Safety Pick+ and Top Safety Pick awards to six of our models in the past several years. It stems from our commitment to building vehicles that are engineered to save lives.

Every Subaru is also equipped with the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. With a suite of features developed to keep you and your vehicle safe, they have helped protect many of our customers over the years

What would affect insurance rates? According to MarketWatch Guide, these factors determine how much you can pay to protect you and your vehicle:

  • “Driving record: Drivers with speeding tickets, car accidents, drivers under the influence violations, and other offenses on their records pay higher rates than those with clean driving histories.

  • “Deductible: Drivers with full coverage can often choose a higher deductible to get lower premiums. Beware, though, that higher deductibles also mean higher out-of-pocket costs in the event of an accident.

  • Credit History: In most states, insurers evaluate credit scores as a way of determining financial responsibility.

  • Age: Motorists with more experience behind the wheel pay lower rates than young drivers. Younger drivers pay more for insurance because they statistically have higher accident rates than more experienced motorists.

  • “Marital status: Married drivers typically pay lower car insurance premiums than their single counterparts in many states.

  • “Location: Population density, the frequency of insurance claims, and the number of uninsured drivers in your location all affect premiums.

  • “State insurance minimums: How much coverage you’re required to carry by local and state insurance laws can have a significant impact on average car insurance rates in your region.

  • “Gender: The gender listed on your driver’s license has an impact on insurance costs in most states. Male drivers usually pay higher rates than female drivers.”
