The SUVs
The Crosstrek can either run on a 2.0-liter or 2.5-liter engine. The smaller engine generates 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. If you drive a Crosstrek with a larger engine around Truckee, you have 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. Both engines can result in a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds. However, if you opt for the more capable Crosstrek Wilderness trim, you can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
The Subaru Forester offers more interior space than the Crosstrek. Like its counterpart, it uses a 2.5-liter engine. With this engine and the proper towing equipment, the Forester can tow 1,500 pounds around Minden. The exception, again, is the Wilderness trim. This special trim can tow 3,000 pounds.
Another two-row SUV available near Gardnerville is the Subaru Outback. It comes standard with a 2.5-liter engine and is also available with a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine that produces 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. The Outback is more robust in terms of towing. With its standard engine, it can haul 2,700 pounds around Gardnerville. In comparison, its turbocharged engine has a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
The Ascent stands out because it's the only Subaru to offer three rows of seats. It uses the same kind of turbocharged engine found in some Outbacks. Its entry-level trim can tow 2,000 pounds, while all the other Ascents can tow as much as 5,000 pounds. This capability can give you much more flexibility when planning your adventures.
