The Subaru Outback has sort of been unjustly domesticated over the years, commonly being thought of as simply a road faring ride meant for families and everyday driving. However, if you have bought into this then you would be wrong, because the Outback was born from Rally roots and still lives up to this heritage.
To show off the capabilities of the new 2015 Subaru Outback our Russian counterparts are sending it on a record breaking journey that will test the limits of the multi-purpose wagon.
This record breaking run will be in a standard production Outback and will take place across the entire European continent. Beginning in Portugal at Cape San Vicente and ending in southern Russia at the Sea of Okhotsk this journey will span the longest stretch of road possible on a single continent .
With two drivers taking turns behind the wheel on the non-stop journey it is believed the trip will take around fifteen days to complete. Covering over 6,213 miles the only additions the Outback will receive that are not production standard will be a beefed up navigation system, satellite communications and a Autolocator.
Beyond proving the toughness and abilities of the new Outback this record breaking adventure will also look to show that, as Subaru puts it, "the obstruction of our spaces is greatly exaggerated."1
Make sure you keep in the loop here on our blog as this world record unfolds on the roads of Europe, we surely will keep an eye out for any updates and the final result of this cross-continent journey.
Also, if you want to experience the 2015 Outback right here in Carson City, Nevada then you can by stopping by our showroom and test driving one from the inventory of new Subaru models.
